I came here after looking for anyone who had a similar problem. It's happened to me about three times in 4 years. Not something to get too worked up over, considering how much I get out of the service, especially with Watch Instantly always there to fill in the gaps.

However, one time when I did call to just ask them why they had received what I hadn't even watched, they argued that my shipping address was wrong. The very same one that was also my billing address tied to the Netflix account. Their phone customer service, at least at that time, was abysmal.

Since, I've stuck with their Twitter help. I just asked them, in fact, about this issue, as it just happened this week to me. Maybe they'll provide more insight, as I now know I'm not the only one who has had this happen.

http://Twitter.com/NetflixHelps if you want to ask them anything. It's their official customer service online, and they're very friendly and easy to work with.

When I first signed up with netflix I had alot of problems. They already had a law suit against them for throttling which is holding up movies for two days before choosing from que then sending them out. Also, the movies were sent from states far away from the ones customers lived in. One of my movies ( a popular one) was sent from California. I live on the east coast. It took 6 days from receicing my movie to get the next movie to me. I filed complaint with BBB and it was rectified. I was also included in the law suit and recieved 15% off of one bill. Since then I haven't had any problems with them. You might check the apartment number on your account and if the address is correct then think of BBB.

i was on the other end of this. the previous tenant of my apt didn't change their address right away and i kept getting their netflix dvds. i didn't watch them (because they were crappy movies) but would have to open them to get the return envelope to send them back. (the mail carrier wouldn't take them without the return envelope, even when i tried to explain) i don't think they will forward netflix dvds to a new address. you have to change it in your profile first. maybe you should make sure your address is correct, or see if there is someone in your building with a similar name as you.

Speak to the super/manager about it, and follow up with a letter. A written note is better than a verbal convesation in case there are any issues at a later date.

Also, write a letter to the manager of the local Post Office. If the PO don't know about it, they can't investigate it to see if it's something dodgy going on with one of their workers.

Hmm I hadn't thought of that first point, Gregory. Thanks for giving me more options to think about.

Thankfully the box is always locked if it's closed. No surveillance, but my manager will definitely hear about it from me in case this is a common thing. Thanks!

I might do the lock change. And yeah, normally Netflix dvds fit perfectly in there. I've never seen anything left outside the mailboxes.

It could, of course, just be coinky-dinky. Like take that one that got sent back -- sometimes the envelopes get ripped up and opened during transit, in which case the post office will usually just return them to Netflix. Now, if something wiggy happens a third time...

The big thing, of course, is that I would contact Netflix, too, and try to get some kind of credit, under the working assumption that there's delivery problems, which means it's their problem :). No harm trying to get a few free rentals out of them...
