Happy news! New York state passed a bill making gay marriage legal! And in the middle of all the twitter hubub and joyous shouts of happiness, I read this:

After 15 & 1/2 years, I asked my partner to marry me & he said yes. Thank you all for your support! Victory for equality is victory for all.

Best twitter status of my night! Congratulations to a twitter friend and one of my favorite youtubers, Mitch (ProfMTH)! This should never have been illegal. I am so glad for all the New Yorkers who can now enjoy the proper freedom they so rightly deserve.

So. Much. Yes.

This is what it all comes down to, really. How can you deny two people who love each other equal rights just because they have the same genitals? It’s asinine.

Hoping really hard for more states – and eventually the federal government – to follow suit.

I was *really* hoping this would be good news, and it was! Thank you New York, and thank you, Godless Girl; this sad day (for me) is now a little less sad. I’m glad that love *does* win every now and then…and that I have an excuse to move to New York at some point! *flash LGBT equivalent of “Live Long and Prosper”*

Everyone should be happy with New York’s decision.

Such rights should also be extended to polygamists as well. They actually have a stronger case, since it has existed throughout history.

Better yet, get the government out of marriage.
